Seemless compilation, yet again the wonderful painterly quality. I love the overly luminous lighting directly around the buffalo like a spot light to really direct the viewers attention. We all ready know the buffalo is the central purpose of the image, but you have given it even more weight and importance in the treatment of the environment to really welcome the animal.

For me - a viewer's interpretation has as much validity as mine - and pleased if it makes any connections at all in fact......

So if this is seen in a - uhhhh - different light, that is great, but the thoughts I was having, while making this, ties in with the native american thoughts that goes this is a good day to die, or in this case, a good place...... The buffalo is a herd animal, that were easily killed by firearms because they would form a circle to defend there offspring and less well members... And here, we have the last of such a herd, that has chosen such a good place to lie down....

Way my mind works - and as said other interpretations have equal validity in my way of thinking.

I saw it as an image honoring the buffalo. You are right though, to see one alone is very heartbreaking. That is exactly why they died out. I've known a few (grew up in ranch land areas) and they certainly have personalities.

Our neighbor had one that had a long feud w/ the donkey the same family owned. The donkey constantly picked on the buffalo in various ways until one day, while the donkey was standing next to the large tin basin they drank from, the Buffalo (They called him Bob - imaginative, right?) nudged the donkey into the water basin on his back with all 4 legs straight up! The had to get special equipment out to get him out. He left Bob a lone.. for a while.
