Appreciate.
Started by removing just the water falls and part of the water in front of it from a stock photo, worked in more flows on one side, removed some, to get the look you see here. Layered in the front of the background foliage. Marqueed and adjusted levels, color and contrast... increased level (amount) of water in front... played with adding color and tones there. On other layers started adding in the background layers, adjusting levels, contrast... played with the layering options till got what you see... Then started layering in colors, using different layering modes to get the variations seen. Marqueed the man, added him in - actually used about four different versions to get the lighting to match pretty well the rest of the scene. Added shadows Sounds more complicated then actually was. Think the trick is having great stock to work from in the first place, then use layers to be able to work in the individual elements, cutting out and adding to, as needed... then just fine tuning.
Been finding that each image I do, I learn new things that helps in the next one, and then just playing and experimenting. Trying to have fun... Also the original is about 5x this size... so that helps, and when reduced down, helps cover some of the - uhhh - errors. Also I spend on average, more time doing touchups - after I first think it's done - then I do putting together the original work. If you have specific questions, ask, and will try to explain - though won't guarantee you won't end up in Kansas... easier to do then explain sometimes.
Again, thanks,
best, hewsan

Hmm.. I see. Now I could see the line that seperate the waterfall from the upper images =b The technique sounds really interesting I'll try it sometime.. Oh and the background looks like a painting... did u make it from a photograph or it was a painting from the begining?

Thanks a lot for the detailed explanation. It's a big help for me =D

Started as a photograph, digitally painted over. And hmmm now got me worried, thought the seperation and blending was done pretty well... :) between the elements... But always room for improvements.
